MACIEJ BATOR– cantor at the Church of Peace in Świdnica. He studied the organ in Poland (graduate of the class of organ of Prof. Andrzej Chorosiński at the Chopin University of Music in Warsaw), Switzerland (a year of studes at the Conservatoire in Geneve in the organ class of Prof. Vincent Thevenaz), Germany (Musikhochschule in Stuttgart – completed post-graduate studies in the organ class of Jon Laukvik), and Sweden (numerous master courses). In 2019 he defended his doctoral dissertation and was conferred the degree of Doctor of Musical Arts at the Academy of Music in Kraków. He regularly gives concerts, promotes organ music, and the organbuilding workshop ‘Schlag and Sons’ from Świdnica. He also popularises the concept of private organ concerts referring back to the historic tradition of merchant cities. Since 2013 he has given more than 500 such popularising concerts in the Church of Peace. Together with his Wife Zuzanna he performs organ duos and transcriptions, primarily of symphonic compositions. In 2020 he was a beneficiary of the virtual scholarship awarded by the Minister of Culture under the ‘Culture in the Web’ programme. He is the founder of the first Polish Online Organ School (szkolaorganow.pl).
